The Presbyterian Church of Dover

The Presbyterian Church of Dover

about us

Established in 1714, the Presbyterian Church of Dover (PCUSA) is a welcoming community of faith located in downtown Dover, Delaware. The Reverend Kimberly A. Jackson joined us as pastor in March 2018.

Our purpose is to renew constantly and prayerfully our understanding of God through the teachings of Jesus Christ. Our mission is to reach out to one another, our community, and the world with compassion and generosity. Join us as we strive to love and serve our Lord, and love and serve one another!

Sunday Worship 11 am

We have a traditional service, filled with praise and preaching to worship and glorify God. The Lord's Supper is celebrated the first Sunday of every month.

Mid-Day Advent Service

Come and listen for the word of God through readings and sacred music, as we seek sanctuary from the busyness of our lives.

Wednesdays, 12.5, 12.12, 12.19 from 12-12:30 pm.

Christmas Eve

Join us on Christmas Eve at one of our two services as we celebrate Jesus’ birth.

Family Service is at 5 pm, which includes Communion.

Lessons and Carols Service is at 9 pm, which includes candlelight and Communion. Pre-service music begins at 8:45 pm.

special services

During the year, we will hold additional services that enable us to trace the footsteps of Jesus' life and ministry.

What I love most about our church is that we are a family.

We have a variety of ministries which serve our congregation and community. A handful are explored below. Each is important to the life of our church.

Several musical ensembles enrich our worship life, including our Chancel Choir, Faithful in Flannel, and Bells of Praise. We also enjoy the musical gifts of individual members, particularly in the summer months. We welcome new singers and ringers!

Our Mission Committee, Interpreting Mission, Peace, and Justice (IMPJ), seeks to participate in God’s work in the world by informing, challenging, and empowering the congregation to minister to people in need locally, nationally, and internationally.

faith formation

We emphasize spiritual development for all ages particularly through our weekly Sunday school, classes in the Fall and during Lent, and Faith Filled Aging group.

Our Board of Elders serves as the spiritual leadership and governing body of the church, by discerning how God is at work in our congregation, and who God is calling our church to be.

board of deacons

Deacons are our caregiving officers, serving and praying for members of our congregation and community with compassion and love.

Other committees

Additional ministries include Administration, Nominating, Fellowship, Membership, Personnel, Property, and Worship.
